  63. NameBase is a program that keeps track of names, addresses, phone
  64. numbers, dates, notes and other miscellaneous data about persons and
  65. organizations.  A unique feature allows you to organize entries into any
  66. category you wish, then view these categories separately or combined.
  67.  
  68. You can assign a person to any number of categories, yet enter their data
  69. only once.  You can display all records in all categories, or just a
  70. specific category.
  71.  
  72. NameBase includes a feature that lets you specify any criteria to further
  73. limit the records displayed, using Structured Query Language (SQL) syntax
  74. to specify which records you want. You can then view, edit, or print just
  75. the records you selected.  You can also search for any string of
  76. characters in all records.

  78. NameBase lets you sort on any field.  You can edit a record in a
  79. spreadsheet-like grid or on a separate edit screen.  Many fields have
  80. user-customizable screen labels.

  82. Various printed reports are included.  There are address books in
  83. different sizes, from full-size to pocket-size.  You can specify the
  84. type of print and starting position for mailing labels and envelopes.

  86. NameBase uses a Microsoft Access database, so it is easy to access your
  87. NameBase data using many Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and
  88. Access.  You can even write your own reports.  Mail merge is a snap using
  89. Microsoft Word.

  123. If the NameBase for Windows files are compressed into a single file
  124. such as NAME102.ZIP, you must first uncompress that file into a single
  125. directory or diskette.  After uncompressing follow the directions below.
  126.  
  127. To install this program, first start Microsoft Windows.  Then, from the
  128. Windows Program Manager, select the File menu.  Then choose Run.
  129. If the installation files are on a diskette, place this diskette in
  130. drive A or drive B.
  131.  
  132. Then type A:\SETUP (or B:\SETUP) and press Enter.  The Setup program
  133. will then take over.  After it starts, it will ask you where to install
  134. the program files.  The drive and directory are already filled in with
  135. C:\NAMEWIN.  This is usually where you want to install the files, so
  136. just press Enter and the installation will continue.  The installation
  137. program will copy the files to their proper places and create a
  138. NameBase for Windows program group and icons in Windows for you.
  139.  
  140. If the program installation files are located somewhere other than on
  141. a diskette, (such as in a directory on your C drive), instead of typing
  142. A:\SETUP, type the name of the drive and path first, followed by \SETUP
  143. and press ENTER.  For example, if the program files are located in a
  144. subdirectory called DOWNLOAD on your C drive, you should type
  145. C:\DOWNLOAD\SETUP and then press Enter to start the installation.

  148. each of the topics listed in the Help file.
